Refurbishment of new BP Rolls Hull site is underway

Date: 2nd November 2020

Work has commenced on refurbishment of our new site in Hull. Manager Rob Davis is overseeing the project which include a new roof, electrics, new ovens, ramps, and office interiors.

BP Rolls Hull, the latest addition to the BP Rolls Group, is set to open later this month. Currently undergoing extensive refurbishment to upgrade the tired workshop and ancillary buildings that occupy the Lee Smith Street site, which is just a stones throw from the Humber Dockyard, conveniently located near the A63.

The project started with some internal reconfiguration to make more practical use of both the workshop and office spaces. The entire site has been rewired and new energy saving LED lighting installed throughout supplied by Pat Hamlet of Hampat Services Ltd. A new heating system has been installed by Neville Tucker Services. In the offices, flooring has been installed by our new neighbours The Hull Flooring Company.

In the workshop, the dark walls have been repainted to brighten up the space, and the roof has been completely replaced. Our new spray booth over and mixing room was supplied by LCI Spraybooths Limited. A brand new fire alarm system has been installed by Fire Protection Supplies, whilst Scamp Security did the security alarm and CCTV.

“Rob is doing an excellent job project managing the Hull refurbishment. The site was in a pretty dire condition, but despite never working on anything of this scale before, he jumped in with both feet; as soon as the keys were in his hand, he had his sledge hammer out and knocked down the first wall, and it’s been full steam ahead ever since. The team working on the renovations have pulled out all the stops to move it along at lightning speed. We weren’t due to open officially until the end of November, however we have already had our first batch of client vehicles through the door for servicing, which is great to see.”

The final piece of the puzzle will be the ramps which are due to be commissioned this week, however Rob has not let the lack of ramps hold him back - he has already has a steady stream of clients vehicles coming through the doors for servicing and bodywork, despite not quite being fully functional. The new team are currently undergoing their induction training ahead of the official opening, with a few employment opportunities still open for application - all details can be found on our careers page.
