BP Rolls win Newbury and District Bus livery contract

Date: 4th March 2019

BP Rolls Group has been awarded the contract to overhaul the Newbury and District bus livery with their commercial paint shops and their signs and graphics divisions working in tandem to complete the project.

Newbury and District, which was acquired by municipal operator Reading Buses in September 2018, unveiled a new brand identity on Monday 4 March 2019. The redesign has taken place to create cohesion across the two businesses; Buses will retain the recognisable Newbury and District black, but to that will be added a lime accent to bring a degree of commonality with the Kennections livery, which is also owned by Reading Buses.

“While we are trying to bring the Newbury and District brand into the Reading Buses family, we don’t want to lose any of the loyalty that has been built up over the last few years.”

Robert Williams, CEO, Reading Buses

The bus fleet will be subject to renovation of the livery involving a combination of paintwork, vinyl wrap and applied graphics to the exterior, as well as graphic panels to the interior. BP Rolls Group. Given the size and the timescale of the project, the painting will be split across BP Rolls sites in Andover and Newport, before the graphics are printed in-house at their design studio and applied by their team of fitters.

“With depots in both Andover and Newport, BP Rolls are well appointed to accommodate a fleet rebrand of this scale. We are pleased to be working with Reading Buses on this project, and look forward to seeing the end result.”

Paul Thomas, Director, BP Rolls Newport

The first bus to be treated is an Alexander Dennis Enviro400, with vehicles continuing to be rebranded over the coming months, the whole exercise is expected to be completed in the summer.
