Repairing vehicles since 1966 - trusted by the UK’s biggest brands

BP Rolls Newport keeps the home delivery fleets on the road throughout the Pandemic

Date: 25th May 2021

BP Rolls Group has invested over £1.2 million in its second Newport servicing and repair depot creating local jobs in South Wales through the Pandemic. As other businesses contracted, BP Rolls Newport made the decision to invest in South Wales in order to support the Pandemic surge in home shopping fleet servicing and repairs, required to keep these fleets moving and providing a vital supply line to millions of homes.

Offering in-house and 24hr mobile emergency vehicle servicing and repair for light commercial vehicles, alongside the commercial body shop, the existing Queensway Meadows Industrial Estate site simply couldn’t cope.

“The Pandemic created a huge upsurge in supermarket home deliveries putting pressure on existing brand fleets. With many fleets needing to increase their numbers to cope, the servicing and repair and graphics livery requirement also increased”
BP Rolls Newport Director, Paul Thomas

“A second site was urgently required to cope with the Pandemic demand and to also future proof the increase in home shopping fleets. A second site, at Unit 1 Nash Mead industrial estate was acquired and the 12,577 Sq. ft premises underwent extensive renovations with a view to opening in June 2021 as a specialist service centre and body shop for light commercial vehicles. The Pandemic accelerated our deadline and trades worked 24/7 to get the facility up and running ahead of target.

Paul Thomas is excited about the venture, but is under no illusion of the scale of the project as demand for light commercial servicing in the region have increased exponentially. Customers are chomping at the bit to get their fleets on board with us because we offer such a quick and dedicated service to these types of delivery fleets which simply cannot afford lengthy vehicle down-time. Knowing how our business model meets the high standards and demands of the major home shopping brands is a comforting thought to many smaller fleet owners who may only have 10 vehicles.

Trialled last year, the BP Rolls emergency mobile repair, livery graphics and servicing fleet was expanded and now offers fleet operators a 24-hour night time service so that vehicles are ready first thing next morning. Reducing down-time is so important that we now carry all major components for many makes to replace minor defects such as light bulbs, mirrors, body mouldings right up to replacing damaged panels with new fully painted panels and graphic sets. Our mechanics can even service the vehicles meaning that if close to the service point, the work is carried out with the damage repair saving more time and money in the future.

The new facility houses a servicing workshop dedicated to Class 7 light commercial vehicles, MOT’s, a paint and body shop, as well as a graphics fitting bay, ready to accommodate fleets of all sizes from Newport and Avonmouth to Bristol and surrounding areas.

BP Rolls provide a unique turnkey fleet servicing, repair and graphics livery service and we are ready to give this experience to fleet owners of all sizes to help and ensure they keep moving.
